MakerCraft · Membership
The key terms
The membership agreement is the document that counts, and you’ll sign it at your induction. This page is the short version, so you know what you’re agreeing to before you get there. About two minutes.
How it works
The short version
Joining and leaving
Runs in rolling 30-day periods from the day you join — not calendar months. Cancel any time by emailing us; it ends when your current 30 days are up.
No minimum term, no notice period. We don’t refund part periods.
Membership is yours alone. You can’t share it or lend your access.
You need to be 18 or over.
Paying
Regular is $48, Resident is $198, each per 30 days. HitPay emails you an invoice at the start of each period and you pay it however you like — card, PayNow, whatever they offer.
Fabrication and materials are charged separately. Residents get 50% off; Regulars pay public rates.
If an invoice goes unpaid, access pauses after a week and the membership lapses after three.
We’ll give you 30 days’ notice before changing a fee.
Machines are run by us, not by you
Printers, the laser and the resin gear are operated by Makerschool staff. Members don’t run them.
You submit a job, we run it. Residents get priority in the queue.
We’ll confirm the job and give you an estimate before starting anything chargeable. Timings are estimates, not promises.
If we think a design will fail, we’ll say so before running it. Tell us to go ahead anyway and materials are chargeable either way.
It’s not that we don’t trust you. It lets us batch jobs, sequence the queue, and stop one project tying up a printer for three days.
What you can do on your own
Benches, paint stations, soldering, assembly, finishing, and the hand tools. The fabrication machines are ours to run.
That applies whenever you’re here, including when no staff are around.
Everyone does a safety induction first. You can’t use the lab until it’s done.
Bring photo ID to your induction. We check the name matches and hand it straight back — we don’t photograph it, copy it, or record any ID number.
We’ll take your photo so staff can recognise you. It doesn’t go in our marketing.
Read this one twice
Working here when nobody’s around
The lab is often unstaffed. That’s deliberate, and it comes with things you need to know.
You’re welcome to work here alone — at the benches and paint stations.
No machines run while you’re here alone, and you can’t start one. Same rule as any other time.
The cameras record, but nobody watches them live. If you’re hurt while you’re here alone, the footage doesn’t bring anyone — you’d need to call for help yourself.
Keep your phone on you, not in your bag.
The rest of it
Cameras, breakages, and what you make
Cameras
The lab is filmed 24 hours a day, for security and for working out what happened after an incident.
Footage is kept for 30 days and then written over, unless we’re holding a clip for something specific.
Only the Makerschool team can view it. We don’t use it in marketing.
You can ask to see footage you’re in. You can’t film other members without asking them.
Breakages
Machines are ours to run and ours to fix. If one breaks while we’re running your job, that’s on us.
You’d be charged if you touched a machine you shouldn’t have, gave us material that wasn’t what you said it was, ignored a safety rule, or broke something deliberately.
If that happens we’ll tell you what it is and what it costs, send the quote, and give you seven days to query it before it goes on your next invoice. Over $500, we talk first.
Tell us when you break something, even if nobody saw. Owning up isn’t a problem. Hiding it is — the next person doesn’t know.
What you make
It’s yours. We claim no rights over your designs or your work.
You’re responsible for the files you send us. If a model’s licence says personal use only, we can’t print it for sale.
You can sell what you make. Sell it yourself and we take nothing. Ask us to sell it for you and that’s a separate arrangement with a commission.
Your details
We collect what we need to run your membership, keep you safe, and take payment. Nothing else.
We don’t collect NRIC numbers.
Marketing emails, messages, and photos of you or your work are separate opt-ins. You’ll be asked at your induction, all of them are optional, and saying no to everything leaves your membership exactly the same.
When we’d end a membership
Rarely, and we’d rather talk first. But immediately, and without a refund, for anything that puts people at risk: bypassing a safety feature, operating a machine, sharing your access, taking things that aren’t yours, or treating other members badly.
