Who this covers

Different things apply depending on how you deal with us. Read the section that fits — or all three.

Visiting mkr.sg

Anyone browsing the site, filling in a form, or messaging us on WhatsApp.

Parents and children

MakerClass, MakerClub and workshops — where the participant is under 18.

MakerCraft members

Adults on a Regular or Resident membership, on a 30-day trial, or visiting on a Drop-in evening.

Everyone who comes to the lab

The lab is covered by CCTV. That applies to every person who enters — children, parents waiting, members, workshop participants and visitors alike. See the CCTV section below.

When you visit mkr.sg

Analytics

We use Google Site Kit, which connects this site to Google Analytics and Search Console. It tells us how many people visit, which pages they read, roughly where they are, and what they came from. We use both Google Analytics and Search Console. Google sets cookies to do this and processes the data on its own terms.

Advertising

We use the Meta pixel on this site. It tells Meta which of our pages you visited, so we can measure whether our advertising is working and show ads to people who have been here before. Meta receives that information and handles it on its own terms. You can turn off ad personalisation in your Facebook or Instagram settings.

Forms

When you fill in a form on this site — an enquiry, a booking, or a membership application — we receive what you typed, and store it so we can respond and keep a record. Form entries are held in our website database and in our member records.

Messaging us

Several buttons on this site open a WhatsApp conversation. WhatsApp is operated by Meta, and your message and phone number are handled under Meta’s terms as well as ours. If you’d rather not use it, email us instead.

Embedded content

Some pages embed content from other sites, such as video. Those behave as though you’d visited the other site directly, and the provider may set its own cookies and track your interaction with it.

Cookies

Our own cookies keep the site working. Analytics and any embedded content set their own. You can block or delete cookies in your browser; parts of the site may then behave oddly.

Parents and children

MakerClass, MakerClub and workshops involve participants as young as five. We treat that information with more care, not less.

Who gives us the information

A parent or legal guardian enrols the child and provides their details. We don’t collect personal information directly from a child, and we don’t ask children to fill in forms.

What we hold about your child

Their name, age or date of birth, the programme they’re enrolled in, attendance, allergies and any medical or access needs you tell us about, and who is authorised to collect them.

What we hold about you

Your name, contact details, relationship to the child, emergency contact details, and payment records.

Why

To run the programme, keep your child safe, reach you during a session, release your child only to the right adult, and take payment.

Photographs of children

We only photograph or film a child for our marketing where a parent or guardian has given separate, specific consent. That consent is optional, it never affects enrolment, and you can withdraw it at any time by emailing us. Work your child makes may be photographed without them in shot; tell us if you’d rather we didn’t.

Your child will be on camera

The lab is covered by CCTV during all opening hours, including children’s sessions. This is for safety and security, it is never used in marketing, and access is restricted. See the CCTV section below.

Your rights as a parent

You can ask to see what we hold about your child, ask us to correct it, and withdraw any consent you’ve given. Where your child is old enough to have a view, we’ll take it into account. Contact [email protected].

MakerCraft members

Name, preferred name, email, mobile, date of birth

To set up and run your membership, contact you, and confirm you’re 18 or over.

Billing address

We don’t ask for this. HitPay may collect a billing address when you pay an invoice, and it’s held by them under their own terms — we don’t receive or store it.

Emergency contact

Their name, relationship and number, so we can reach someone if you’re hurt here. We ask you to check with them first.

Health information relevant to the lab

Three questions on the form — respiratory conditions, sensitivity to solvents or paint fumes, and allergies relevant to workshop materials — plus an optional question at your induction about anything a first-aider should know. Used to keep you safe and to know what to tell a paramedic. We ask only about hazards actually present here, and never for a medical history.

A record that we sighted your photo ID

The date, and who checked it — to confirm the name on your membership is right. We look at the document and hand it straight back. We don’t photograph, copy or scan it, and we don’t record any ID number.

Your photograph

Taken at induction, so staff can recognise you and match a person to camera footage after an incident. Not used in marketing. Deleted when your membership ends.

Access and induction records

When you entered and left, and that we briefed you properly on working safely here.

Your fabrication jobs

Files submitted, what was run, when, by which staff member, and what it cost — to run the job, bill it correctly, and settle any query about a charge or a failed print.

What we don’t collect, from anyone

We don’t collect NRIC or FIN numbers. We don’t take copies of identity documents. We don’t hold your bank account or card numbers — card details go straight to HitPay and we never see them.

CCTV

What’s recorded

Cameras cover the workshop floor, the machines, the entrance and the storage area, 24 hours a day. They record video only — no audio. There are no cameras in the toilet or any changing or washing area.

Why
Security of the premises, equipment and property
Investigating accidents, near misses and equipment faults
Investigating damage, loss or theft
Checking machine use where a charge is queried
Confirming who was present when the lab was unstaffed

Nobody is watching live

The cameras record; they aren’t monitored. We look at footage afterwards, and only for one of the reasons above. This matters if you’re a member working here when no staff are present: the cameras will not bring anyone to help you. If something goes wrong, call for help yourself.

Who can see it

Only the Director and the Lab Director. We won’t show footage to anyone else, except to you where you appear in it; to the police, SCDF, our insurers or professional advisers where reasonably needed; or where the law requires it. We never use CCTV footage in marketing — anything in our posts was filmed separately, with agreement.

Asking to see footage

Email [email protected]. Parents can ask about footage of their child. We’ll provide what we reasonably can — where other people appear in the same footage we may need to obscure them, and occasionally that isn’t practical. We’ll tell you if so, and why. Don’t film other people at the lab without asking them.

Who we share it with

We don’t sell your data and we don’t share it for anyone else’s marketing.

HitPay, our payment provider. Your card details go to HitPay directly and we never see them. We also pass HitPay your email address and phone number so it can send you receipts and match your payment
Google, for site analytics, and Meta, for advertising measurement
The software we use to run the business — website and form hosting, member and programme records, email, and scheduling. Some of these companies are outside Singapore; where that’s the case we rely on their contractual commitments to protect your data to a comparable standard. Ask us at [email protected] if you’d like to know which providers we currently use
The police, SCDF, our insurers or advisers, where reasonably needed or required by law
Emergency services, and your emergency contact, if someone is hurt here

Keeping it secure

Access is limited to people who need it. Children’s records, health information and CCTV footage are restricted to the Director and the Lab Director. Card details are held by HitPay, not by us.

What you can ask us to do

See what we hold about you or your child, and how we’ve used it
Correct anything that’s wrong
Withdraw a consent — marketing, messages, or use of photographs. It won’t affect your membership or your child’s place, and we’ll action it within 14 days. We can’t always pull back something already published or shared onward

One thing you can’t opt out of

Being recorded by CCTV. It covers the whole workshop, so if you’re not willing to be filmed we can’t offer you a membership or a place in a programme.

Complaints and changes

Tell us first at [email protected] and we’ll try to sort it. If you’re not satisfied, you can raise it with the Personal Data Protection Commission. If we change this notice we’ll update the date below and tell members and parents.
